Nestled within seven acres of sloping hickory and oak forest overlooking Berkshire Lake in Taghkanic, New York is a 4,000 square foot lake house designed by JZA+D. Creatively mimicking the surrounding landscape, the house features two massive stone walls that serve as the centerpiece. The house also utilizes sustainable geothermal and solar energy.

At the same time, JZA+D has maximized the home’s contextual serenity with a large open-air porch, a two-story chimney with two fireplaces and impressive views of the lake from the study and master bedroom.
