Moonlight Noodle House

Architecture and Interior Design
Macao, PRC

Sands Macao re-themed its popular Moonlight Night Market into the Moonlight Noodle House, where a traditional color palette of reds and golds-good fortune in the Chinese culture-create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Moon gates, traditionally used in places of transition, mark the separation of the dining area from the rest of the resort.

Stone pathways and wood inserts structure the room’s circulation. In the center, the distinctive lighting design is a collection of round fixtures that correspond with the phases of the moon. The kitchen is partially exposed through windows of fritted glass, offering the patrons glimpses of the cuisine being prepared, without disrupting the calm ambiance of the restaurant.
